The highest grossing films were mostly contemporary, so how about considering the highest grossing films adjusted for inflation. Thankfully a website has done this for us:

Please vote for up to SIX of your favourite Highest Grossing films (adjusted for inflation).

Dominated by Star Wars and Disney, but some surprises in there too!

It’s really hugely impressive that a 4 hours movie is by far the leader (nothing even comes close) in the all time box office! I still have to see Gone with the Wind along with 4 other movies in this list.
This list includes only the domestic box office btw.I There used to be an adjusted for inflation worldwide all time ranking on boxofficemojo, but I don’t see it anymore since they revamped the website.

Yes, I meant to add that this is just US box office. Thanks for highlighting that. Gone with the Wind is worth the effort 🙂

Interesting that even with the adjustment there are so many Star Wars movies in there; did not think it would be quite that many- 101 dalmatians besides Jungle book prob my fave animated Disney ever – genreally also some really classics in the list with GWTW, Sound of music, Jaws, Ben Hur. Avatar is sooo lucky to have had those at the time ground-breaking special effects; it’s about 2 hours too long to be enjoyable.

Did you watch Almodovar’s latest film dear penguin? I believe you might love it!

Indeed I did, Donnnie and I loved it! Watched it with 3 friends (2 guys, 1 gal) and we all connected to it on different levels, which was quite amazing. Also Banderas is sooo good in Almodovar’s stuff! I’m guessing you liked it, too?
