  1. Mainly remember him for Luther and some shirtless pics. The movies are obscure or don’t require acting talent to be successful- NOT the next Bond 4 me.

    • I don’t think he should be Bond either. I think he would have done a good job if they hired him instead of Daniel (although not as good as Daniel), but it is a bit late now. Even if they gave him the job he would be at least 50 by the time the first film came out and they release them every 3.5 years: Casino Royale (2006); Quantum of Solace (2008); Skyfall (2012); Spectre (2015); and No Time to Die (2020); so it is not really a role he could stay in for too long. I would rather they got someone younger who could sign a five-picture deal.

      • Indeed, like another perennial guess as the next Bond, the fab Clive Owen, he is now too old for the role.
I’m curious what the next Bond’s ethnicity will be. There’s always a lot of talk about not having a white guy as Bond but “white male privelege” seems for better or worse like such a part of the franchise. Apart from the too-old Denzel and Morgan Freeman, films with black leads unfortunately usually don’t travel that well. Going all-out for the Chinese market would lead to an outcry.
A Hispanic or ME actor may be a good choice: They do this very cleverly in some adverts here when they select a model where people from most of our key immigrant groups (essentially the countries around the Mediterranean and Adriatic) feel “He’s one of us” but the “traditional” Germans aren’t scared off either. Can’t think of anyone who fits the bill ATM but there are a bunch of guys I’ve seen who could be good. Daniel Craig wasn’ta big name either until he came out of the water in those light blue swim trunks!

  2. Love Idris Elba! Most recently I watched Bastille Day which I thought was excellent. No frills action thriller, does what it says on the tin, and does it well. Check it out!

  3. I love Idris Elba, he’s among my favourite actors right now!
I’ve seen many of his films and the tv show Luther. My votes went to Thor: Ragnarok, Molly’s Game, the 2 Avengers movies and Prometheus, but I liked most of the other films on this list as well.
