The IFG Approved 2019 Oscars – The Results

As we know the Academy has a habit of choosing the wrong winner – and the International Film Group has spoken.  From the nominees in seven of the key categories we took the chance to give our verdict.

Best Foreign Language Film:

Temporary Winner: Roma

Official Winners:

We have a two-way tie.  Roma now shares the award with Cold War.

Best Supporting Actress:

Temporary Winner: Regina King for If Beale Street Could Talk

Official Winner:

Regina needs to buy an ornament for the empty space on her mantelpiece now she has had to give the Oscar to Rachel Weisz for The Favourite.

Best Supporting Actor:

Temporary Winner:  Mahershala Ali for Green Book

Official Winners:

Mahershala now only has one third of that Oscar as he has to share it with Adam Driver for BlackKklansman and Sam Rockwell for Vice.

Best Actress:

Temporary Winner: Olivia Colman for The Favourite

Official Winner:

We have decided to let Olivia keep her Oscar.

Best Actor:

Temporary Winner: Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody

Rami, too, can keep his Oscar.  This was the only category where all of the IFG voters were in agreement!

Best Director:

Temporary Winner: Alfonso Cuarón for Roma

We have another three-way tie.  Alfonso had better get used to sharing as he now shares the Oscar with Yorgos Lanthimos for The Favourite and  Paweł Pawlikowski for Cold War.

Official Winner:

bohemian

IFG has voted Bohemian Rhapsody the official winner of the Best picture Oscar 2019.
